The pulp is the neurovascular bundle central to each tooth that become diseased commonly by bacterial infection from caries (deep caries) and/or fractured tooth exposing pulp as well as from trauma, excessive dehydration of a cavity during restoration, thermal shock, irritation of exposed dentine, or repetitive trauma caused by bruxism or jaw misalignment. Similar to deep DC, if close to the nerve, can cause, among other problems, chewing difficulties and sleeping difficulties which affect the individual’s quality of life.
